In an attempt to make out lives easier, we continously buy new appliances for our homes. They are used to make our lives simpler and make our daily tasks simpler. Because these appliances are used everyday, they need regular maintenance to ensure that they keep working. Despite the majority of people knowing that they need to keep their appliances healthy, some can still be forgotten when it comes to doing regular maintenance.

Home appliances such as dehumidifiers, which tend to only be in use during summer, and a electric patio heater, which only come in use during the cold wet days, these are the appliances that are worst affected by lack of maintenance. We’ll take air conditioners as an example. These appliances are a must have during summer, but only during summer, within the other half of the year, they get forgotten. However, when the time comes that your need to cool your house down, the appliance can break down due to poor or no maintenance at all.

Even if your air conditioning unit hasn’t broken down yet without being maintained, it’s most likely costing you more to run. If your air con unit is dirty and not maintained well, it will require more power to cool your rooms, costing you more money for cool air.

Dirt and dust are the biggest enemies against the running of an air conditioner. If you don’t clean your unit of dust and dirt, it will not function as good as it did when you bought it, therefore it will use more energy to keep your rooms cool. This dust and dirt also affects the filter within the unit. If you keep replacing your filter whenever it becomes dirty, it can save you money, reduce the damage the unit does to the environment, plus keep your house cool and dust free.

The filter is the part of the unit that cleans the air, it filters out alot of the bacteria, dust, and pollen that is found in the air. If your air con’s filter is nice and clean, it will be able to clean the air better compared to if it had a dirty filter. It will also take up more electricity trying to clean the air.

Maintaining your air conditioning unit is just as important as maintaining your washing machine or dish washer. To make sure you keep a healthy air con unit, you should check for dust and a dirty filter about one ever month. Remember, you can still use these tips for cleaning a portable aircon unit.
